If Edmonton could turn Neal into Johnson I think that would be good because even though Johnson has an extra year on his contract he is a much better player

let me break down what this trade would be Tampa Bay sending Killorn johnson and a 1 for Cooper Marody a 3 and to pay The uninsured portion of Klefbom's contract You are crazy !!
By taking Gaborik and Nilsson all TB did was save Melnyk 3.2 mil in actual dollars Nilssons contract wasn't insured 2.6 mil and Gaboriiks i think was 85% 600k and opened 2 contract spots for Ottawa

i dont think i am far off they tried all last year to move johnson no takers. so most of the 1st goes towards moving his 3 years.
even with that they are very tight to the cap so a 3rd andm marody for killorn IMO is a decent return for a cash strapped club.

They will probably still need to find some LTIR money like this year for increased flexability so give you 4 mill in cap relief is pretty darn good and makes up for the rest of the first for johnson....
if you need to add a later round pick or AHl prospect be my guest but dont think im that far out

TB and Detroit are good trade partners. I think it's more likely that Johnson ends up in Detroit than anywhere else.

If nothing else, Johnson has a NTC that he needs to waive and Detroit can offer him a 2C spot.

I'm pretty sure Detroit would take a 1st for just Johnson.

also yes you could use seattle but they will make you pay was well to move johnson contract.

if Hedman is on LTIR until say 2/15 his cap hit when he came off would be the prorated portion of 7875000 probably about 2500000

It doesnt work that way. On LTIR his salary still counts against the cap. but allows the bolts to be over the cap by his cap hit.
once he is activated "the extra room" goes away. and TB will be over the cap.
Lets say the salery cap is 81.5 and tampa is at 83 once he is put on LTIR tampa can now have 89.5Mill in cap. ( i used 8 mill easier number) so now they are sitting at 83/89.5 million. Hedmans cap hit is still on the books at 83 million. LTIR just gave space for an extra 6mill.
once activated the cap hit is still 83 million but they are now only allowed the league allowance of 81.5 Mill and are over the cap ( assuming they have no one else on LTIR)

They dont get to save cap room to keep using and they dont get prorated hits like the trade deadline.
