First of all, that is not me agreeing to the deal. I'm simply relaying what the Blues may do. More to the point, a 2022 2nd + Blais + a 6th is not "basically the same" as two 3rds.

Tampa shouldn't even want Blais, he doesn't really make the team any better. Use the 1.5 he would eat up towards keeping a better player for the team in Goodrow. Keeping the best 3rd line in hockey together should be of higher priority than taking on a 4th liner. I agree that Palat should be the trade target between him and Killorn, but Tampa should just move him for like a 2nd+4th/5th or something rather than take money back. Unless Tampa is then planning to flip the contract they took in the trade, it doesn't make sense. I mean if 2 or 3 teams really want Palat and start bidding him.up, who knows, maybe Tampa ends up adding a 4th and gets a late 1st, but a 2nd+ seems more realistic.
