16-17 Season

Description
Vinny won't terminate before the 15'16 season but after another season scratched it's possible he would reconsider since he thinks he still has game to offer (not here).
Streit and Schultz were traded at the 2016 trade deadline to playoff teams. Gagner was either traded at the deadline as well or we let him walk at FA.
The $5.1M in dead cap space is only there for this season, so those moves won't be an issue long-term.

A 50-point top-4 d-man isn't worth a late 1st rounder to a playoff team that wants to go deep? Look at what the Canes got for Sekera this season from LA: 1st rounder + McKeown. Sure, Sekera is better defensively than Streit but Streit it better offensively. A team in a playoff position with a struggling powerplay would absolutely give up a first round pick for him. Also, it's not like age makes a difference - the Kings knew they could have problems re-signing Sekera, like they did, but made the trade anyway. Same can be said with Streit, a team would see him as someone who doesn't stay after the season is over.

        Yeah, I know it's a long-shot. If he doesn't, we just don't re-sign Medvedev and call-up Alt.

I think Streit for a 1st is actually quite reasonable. Especially if you're retaining salary and the 1st is late. Still a very effective d-man.

Montreal wont need Streit they already have enough dman. Raffl is not even close to being worth 4 mil. Luke isnt gonna take less than what he was making. Voracek isnt worth 8mil hes a product of giroux

Probably Buffalo would be a better destination for Streit?

Whether you think Voracek is worth $8m or not, pending UFAs who average a point a game are probably going to get it. And I don't think Philly can afford to see him walk.

If L. Schenn is going to get paid more than $2.5 I'd let him walk. I probably wouldn't sign him anyway. One of Morin/Sanheim/Hagg/Alt should be ready to take his spot by then anyway.

Another 20 goal season and that's gonna be Raffl's price. He scored 21 goals in 67 games without being on the powerplay, and if he had B. Schenn's spot on the top powerplay he would've had a 30-goal season. Voracek is absolutely not a product of Giroux, all of Voracek's 5v5 stats are better than Giroux's and most of the league. Giroux still runs the powerplay but Jake is key to anything that line does at even strength. Also, like Jarett18 mentioned, if Luke wants over $2.5 let him walk and call someone up. He's a top-6 defenseman who can fill in when there's a top-4 injury, don't need another MacDonald-like contract.
