I knew I was gonna get a comment like this so ima explain. obviously the first round pick should be traded for a top 4 man but there aren't any solid top 4 dmen that have term after this season. Cirelli is a top 6 player and it shouldn't be a problem to play him on the wing. overall tho I would prefer trading this pick for a dman but I took advantage of Tampa being cap strapped so I just did this

Ryan graves: plays for a contending team. sakic isn't dumb he will find another way to keep all his men and make Seattle take some AHL player
Scandella: not even top 4 on his own team. bottom pairing 100%
Ekholm: rental. 2022 UFA
Ghost; yes but not worth our first rounder
Weegar: Zito has no business trading away his top pairing dman and second best defensemen
pesce: same theory goes with sakic and graves

Scandella not a top 4 on his own team, yeah. They have a better team than we do. That doesn't exclude him from top 4 on ours.
Ekholm he sure is a rental potentially. Cirelli has 2 years. One yeah of out actual problem is comparable to two years of not

Weegar they have a lot of D to work through and nobody is taking Yandle or Stralman. They also need cap to sign half a forward group.

Aint no way COL is trading Graves. That guy is a monster back there and will be for a long time. Theyre blueline is set for years tbh. Girard,Byram,Makar,Teows,Graves. And COL will make sure Seattle doesnt take one

This is why I think my point makes sense. People make these comments like "their D is set" doesn't matter that they are about to spend like 12 million more money on expiring ELC players over the next couple years and tons of forward contracts are coming up. Of course that wouldn't be important because the team is good so lets just play them no matter how much over the cap we get. Go team.
