21-22 Opening Roster

Créé par: FilthyBarWest
Équipe: 2021-22 Kings de Los Angeles
Date de création initiale: 3 juin 2021

Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
- There is a really good chance LA trades for a top pair D-man, We'll have to wait till the end of the playoffs to see who is really available. Possibilites are Werenski, Jones, Sergachev, heck maybe even Dumba. Also, wouldn't be surprised if they try to sign Oleksiak if the money is right.
- LA needs scoring and Hoffman could be a nice fit. The money will be around the 5 mil range and term could range from 2-3 years. He's just a fill in player until one of the young kids can make the jump to the top line.
- Clague or Grundstrom will be taken by Seattle most likely, They aren't going to take Wagner or Brown.
- Frk will start with Gabe because or their success two years ago before his injury.
- Turcotte, Kaliyev and Kupari will all get multiple cracks at the NHL, but idk if they'll be in for opening night.
- Probably a 50/50 Lizotte gets resigned.
- Cal's the #1 next year.
- I have zero clue if Tkachev will be a good solid NHLer, but LA hasn't had much success with KHL players lately.

Hoffman will probably want a longer term contract than that considering this might be his last big contract

Flat cap + a lot of recent blunders when it comes to long UFA contracts will make a lot of GMs hesitant when it comes to signing 31 year old to a 3+ year deal.

Yeah GM’s will be hesitate but Hoffman will definitely be looking for a long term deal

I agree with you, I just don't think he'll get it. I know for a fact the Kings won't go more than 3 years, but good for him if he gets that bread and a long deal elsewhere lol

I agree with almost everything here, with the exception that Blake and Todd indicated they wanted better forechecking so I think Hyman or Schwartz in lieu of Hoffman, and using remaining space for an experienced top-line LD like Ryan Murray or Alex Edler. Lias and Vilardi looked good together, but maybe Frk can work his way back in.

Saad or RNH would be good options too

I just can't see us signing any free-agent forwards (unless it's some high-intensity guy like Zach Hyman, who I don't think will be available) because we have so many prospects to start bringing forward. (Byfield, Turcotte, Kaliyev, Fah-geh-moh . . . at some point, we've got to start trying them out at the NHL level.)

I know that I join all true Kings fans in hoping and praying that the off-season doesn't include a trade for Jack Eichel or Mitch Marner.

I'm right there with you when it comes to Marner and Eichel, but signing someone like Hyman won't do anything for the kings. They need scoring and someone to play with Kopitar and probably Kempe on that top line. When it comes to playing the kids I think a lot of them will play next year, but I just can't see McLellan and Blake tossing one of them on L1 just going off how patient they have been with them so far. Signing a scorer this year to a short term deal will us make the playoffs next year (hopefully) and keep the seat warm for Kaliyev/Turcotte/Byfield, who should all be ready for top 6 roles in 22-23.

I disagree with you about Hyman's prospective value. I have perceived a noticeable lack of effort and commitment from the forwards in many games. Maybe that comes from frequently being behind. But I think that a 110%-effort guy like Hyman would be a potential corrective to that pervading mind-set. And the list of free-agent scoring forwards who are consistently upbeat is limited . . . and Mike Hoffman isn't on it. He'd be great for our power play, but little more.

He had more even strength goals than anyone on the Kings last year and that was on St. Louis 2nd and 3rd lines. Hyman just feels like another Dustin Brown to me.
