I agree I adjusted the lines and buried koskinen in the AHL for now I don’t see the point in buying him out with one year left I’d rather both have to pay for multiple years. I think the tandem of Smith and Mrazek can bring us to the playoffs. I figured next year we can go after Merzlinkins with the freed up money cause apparently he doesn’t want to sign with Columbus.

I’m really not into going after Hamilton. That just feels like an act of desperation handing out a free agent contract like that I’d resign Barrie long before exploring that

I’d rather have Bouchard fill barrie’s role and I feel Hamilton is the best option as he is still young and his numbers are unreal. if not I’d sign Martinez to a 1-2 year deal and resign Larson

I get Bouchard is an offensively gifted d and we all have very high hopes for but I’d temper those expectations. The role Barrie provided was a level of offence this team hasn’t seen since the 80s. I just don’t think it’s fair to expect a guy who hasn’t even been an nhl regular yet to pick up where one of the best offensive d in the league left off. For 9 million should be able to lock up both Barrie and larsson for 3-4 years. Let Bouchard develop behind one of the best offensive d and defensive d that can only be positives for his development if/when he does push Barrie aside he will be movable until that day comes my vote is on keeping him around.

Jones can’t handle second pair mins he’s a fringe 3rd pair and smith isn’t getting 3 mil anyone that thinks Smith can play at the same level next season needs a reality check
