You don't think we could re-sign him? I do like Heinola, but I would give him up for 8 years of Jones experience and size.

If he's willing to re-sign in Winnipeg that would be great, but it doesn't mean the Jets have to pay more to get Jones. Jones would be coming to Winnipeg with one year remaining on his contract and one year of Jones is not worth giving up Heinola for.

I would hope an agreement would be in place before the trade went through. Really this whole deal is hinged on that. I really do like Heinola, but he is so small, reminds me of Enstrom.

... and Enstrom was massively underrated by pretty much every Jets fan. But as far the deal goes, there is still no reason for the Jets to pay more than a rental price for Jones just because he's willing to re-sign in Winnipeg.

Agreed with that last part, for sure. It's clear that he wants to get to UFA, so he is only worth whatever the rental price of him is. It doesn't sound like he's going to sign any extension.
I'd maybe build a package around Samberg for him, but not Heinola.
