Ideal Wild game 3 change

Description
I would love to see turnover Johansson get the parise treatment. He has neither looked fast or good in about a month. Boldy seems like the right player to go along with fiala on a line. He would keep his game simple and have an m.o. to shoot and create more space for fiala.

This is correct. But I’d bet MoJo stays in.

Question, if another player got in the lineup before Parise does, is that the final straw and we've seen his last game in a Wild sweater? Or are we already at that point no matter how the playoffs go?

I don’t think Parise has a contract with the Wild next year. Whether he comes in during this series or not, I think we are looking at mutual contract termination.

Parise hasn't played well against VGK. I'd put him in if it was COL.

It's more about skillsets to me. None of Parise, MarJo, Bjugstad, or Bonino are suited to play next to Fiala, Kaprizov, or Zucc. The Greenway/JEE/Foligno line is working too well to split up. They don't have a center to push Hartman or Sturm to a wing with Fiala. The taxi squad isn't good for more than a 4th line filler. Mayhew is a very good AHL player, but not a NHL player.

This just leaves Boldy as the best untried option MN has to play with the skill wings.

I could see him basically saying, "trade me, buy me out, I don't care I just want to play" We'll see which way it goes this summer. I hope he's able to work hard in the off season and can be a producing 4th liner next year.

I agree that Boldy would be best suited on Fiala's line someday, maybe not tomorrow. MarJo has been brutal lately.

When it’s mutual contract termination there’s no cap hit correct? No cap hit, no dollars moving or anything?

I’ve heard his agent met with team management. I’d guess that the team wants a mutual termination since it saves them the most cap and dollars but Parise has the 6 mil payday this year he probably wants. I just don’t see a trade in the books, it’s not worth the assets for the cap you’d save. If worse comes to worse it’ll be a buyout and we’ll eat a mil in cap after the contract ends.

Pretty sure it would function the same as retiring for cap purposes, so we’d be on the hook for 5 mil for 4 years. Parise would lose out on any salary he was owed though, he’s owed 6 mil next year so that is probably the hold up with the termination.

MN should still get hit with a recapture on Parise.

I see no reason for Parise to take a mutual termination. He loses $10m from his last 4 years and he won't come close to recouping that. GMBG can talk big but he only really has 2 cards to play: an ugly buyout or pressbox in the NHL.

Rask is a center (which they have none) and not a blackhole on the ice. MarJo is a wing (which they plenty) and a blackhole on the ice.

Well yeah trading wouldn't be worth it for the Wild, but Parise wouldn't care. I see him wanting to play somewhere else if it's not in MN.

Hence why I said if worse comes to worse it’ll be a buyout?

But they also have the card of sitting him until his buyout is better. The team still has leverage if he wants to play.

That's just it, where does he play? There are better options than Parise even at league min heading into the UFA market. He's not a great locker room guy and doesn't bring much to the ice anymore. If he limits himself to Playoff teams that limits his opportunities even more. The buyout really doesn't get much better because his contract was so frontloaded.

Also you take the chance of losing the team if you're benching him out of spite and playing a Mayhew or Hunt as a FWD instead of him.

Short answer, he goes and plays for Lou and the Isles at league min. Honest answer, IDK. All your points are valid but it all comes down to whether he wants to play in the NHL again. The Wild have made a pretty strong statement that he will not hit the ice for them next year. That means if he wants a shot, he has to go elsewhere.

If the team decides to say we will hold off on the buyout for a year for whatever reason, and are committed to it, that alone could force Parise’s hand. I also realize money talks but I’m not sold on how this plays out other than Parise won’t hit the ice next year for the Wild.

Lou wanted Parise as the 25g 50-60p winger he was last year and the year before. The 10g, 20p winger he was this year isn't really much of an incentive Lou to take him even at league min now.

I just don't see this working out well for GMBG, and by extension the Wild.
