Like the Reinhart deal. Manson might even waive since Anaheim is bad anyway and he's a good piece to flip at the trade deadline.

LA deal looks about right for the max they'd get.

Olofsson deal is an inventive use of cap space.

Coyotes probably take the deal too as they're desperate for picks.

All told, one of the more thoughtful, well-constructed efforts. Sign me up for this offseason though you probably want some kind of center to shelter Cozens for another year or two.

I don't get why we would take Jones in the Ollofson deal and I would love to get Byfield instead of Turcotte because we'll he has the most chance of being anywhere near the skill level Eichel is on. But it all makes sense. I wouldn't trade Ollofson though, Meier has been injured 2 much.

I don't think the Ducks give up that much for Sam.

I have zero interest in Jones.

I don't think Seattle takes Risto even if the Sabres include a third. Seattle is an analytics based team and would understand that paying risto for a year and wasting an expansion draft pick on him is not worth a third.

I think the Ducks are desperate for offense and Sam would instantly be there best forward.

I have no interest in Jones either, that is why I buried him in the minors. Taking his contract lowers the ask for Meier and if we are moving Sam and Jack we will have plenty if cap to take on a dump and give up a little less for a quality piece.

Botterill is AGM in Seattle and he loved Risto and it seems that anyone who spends significant time with him falls in love with his work ethic and professionalism so I think they would do this. Perhaps the Sabres need to retain some

If Eichel is 100% healthy (health scare is overblown but not meaningless) and was traded before getting so obviously hostile (again will be tons of bidders but not completely meaningless) then Byfield is probably in the discussion. As it is, I don't see it in this cap environment unless Buffalo retains at least $1-2M (which I'd consider for the right return) and/or the bidding war goes nuts (no way of predicting that right now).

Byfield is ideal but too many variables (and too many years of bad Sabres decisions) for me to be optimistic yet.

Meier has missed 7 games in 5 pro seasons. I would consider that being consistently healthy. He is also a clearly better all around player that actually produces 5 vs 5 so the ask will be more than just Olofsson. Taking Jones allows to not surrender another asset

Also on Jones: a cap dump the Sabres can afford. What will Olofsson be without Eichel? That's my concern. Sell high.

Rather take my chances and try and get 1-3 OA then trade for Reinhart

Odds are much greater that Reinhart is better now than whoever the Ducks would use that pick on at any point in time.

He was amazing without him...like all of this season, arguably he was better without him than his best moments with him. Ollofson was lazy with Eichel so without him he actually had to do work and not just get passes fed to him.

Olofssons value is lower now than it has been, and I was thinking of Hertl so that was my bad.

True, good chance though that the sabres just don't do the deal. They have gotten Eichel deals before, and they have been decent but they kept him. (I think he has suggested he wouldn't mind a trade before this season and before we picked up Taylor hall)

17 points in the first 22 games prior to Eichel's injury. 15 points in 34 games after that. That's nearly a 50% drop in production and all of this was with the team scoring 2.78 goals per game under granato as opposed to 2.32 under Kreuger

20-21 25 points 5 vs 5 hockey in 56 games. 21-22 15 points 5 vs 5 hockey in 54 games. Is your point that it looks like he is trying harder since Jack got hurt even though his production dropped in half? And you feel that if it looks like you are trying hard even though there is nothing to show for it that is better than looking lazy and producing. I mean that is crazy talk

Defense, he played defense. He didn't convert without Eichel because our whole team didn't.

Ou whole team scored a half goal more per game after the coaching change then prior when Eichel was in the lineup. Production increased for Reinhart, TT, Asplund, Skinner, Mitts, Dahlin, Jokiharju. He is about the only player that was playing before and after Jack left the lineup that saw a drop in production after. I would attribute the increases to they style of play changes not Jack being out of the lineup, but that is just an aside. Oloffsons defensive metrics all got worse also. Fenwick, Corsi, Shot Share, XGA.
