I have a feeling Ceci has played himself into redemption and should at least command double his salary, but hey, if they can do it at $1.75 I'd be all in.
I have a hard time really gauging what Teddy and ZAR are going to get, but something tells me they both come in in the low $2M.
I also would prefer someone other than Foligno, but as we both know, Hex and Burkie what someone in that mold. I just don't know who else would be available via FA, or who may be available via trade, but I expect someone in his mold if they can get him.
Ceci won't be here next year, someone out there has 3.5-4 mil for him.
I don't think ZAR is here next year. I like the player but they have younger guys chomping at the bit. It's gonna be really hard to hold a guy like OConnor from the NHL. He's clearly not an AHL level player.
The only thing that is stopping him from getting his chance is experience, learning the system etc... I said at the beginning of they year last year he could have an impact this year. He then went on to win a spot in camp. I think we will see bigger things out of him next year. He'll win that spot and keep it. He's the kind of player you want in a bottom 6 role. Fast enough, big, physical, goes to the dirty areas.
I like ZAR, he's a good player, and he's a 3rd liner on a lot of teams. But for 2 mil, they'll move him. Because they have the depth already to replace him.
To add grit you have to add some size somewhere. It's probably not coming from the top 6, it's got to come in the bottom 6. ZAR moving out will be part of that.
I think OConnor and Caulfield next year. I look for Caulfield to sign this summer. But that's where I see the bottom 6 going. Big, physical, ready to grind it out on teams. Those guys like that game.
Foligno, will not be a penguin. He's too slow.
