Description
Curious for Blues fan Opinion. Not so sure about how valid the rumour is... but I heard st-louis would be open to listening to offers on Tarasenko... because of concerns on his shoulder.

Here is my logic for the sens offer:

1. Dadonov is a cheapman"s Tarasenko... if Tarasenkos shoulder doesn't come all the way back we can expect them to have similar production.

2. Brown hasn't panned out yet... but hasn't been given a real opportunity. As a St-Louis kid, he would be very motivated to play in his hometown. 6'6'' centers don't grow on trees. He has been compared to Jumbo Joe as he still has a ton of untaped potential. Injuries definetely a concern but could replace Bozak with a bit more Offensive upside.

3. Abramov is also an intriguig prospect. Not sure how he fits in St-Louis but could be used in expansion. Either as the player taken or packaged with another player with Salary... perhaps sundqvist.

4. An early 2nd round pick as a sweetner

5. Save 2500000 in capspace to re-sign Thomas, Kyrou, Dunn, Barbashev, Sanford

From Ottawa's perspective, you make this deal look incredibly stupid for them to make (no offence meant).

You call Dadonov a poor man's Tarasenko, okay fine everyone has their comparisons.. but if he's a slightly lesser version of the player they're getting, is he really that much worse than a guy with untaped potential as you say, a high end offensive prospect, and a very early 2nd? .. I think if there's that serious of injury concerns around Tarasenko then the return wouldn't be this high. It's more likely around Brown and the 2nd, maybe make it a lottery protected 1st. Smaller parts could be negotiated, but this deal as is for Ottawa is still a lateral move. The big return for St.Louis should be the cap space since they have guys that need to be re-signed that will likely cost quite a bit, not the players coming back.

Haha just trying to sell the trade to st louis fans

Ottawa has given up on brown a little bit and with Stutzle, Norris, Pinto, White, Tierney all able to play center, he doesn't have a clear path to the nhl. Surely they are looking to trade him before expansion.

Dadonov has been okay at best, as has Tarasenko. But if I am Ottawa I am willing to bet on Tarasenkos reaching his potential again more than Brown and I am willing to pay a very early second pick to make that bet.

we don't want parts for a Tarasanko trade. We are good on depth. That conversation would have to start with Tkachuck

Tkachuk has had three seasons under his belt averaging around 45 points a season. Tarasanko had one 45 point season followed up by three 75 point seasons. The ceiling is a lot higher on Tarasanko. The trade comes down to this.
1.) is tarasanko recovered from his shoulder, all indicators say yes. Its still a gamble for some teams.
2.) He's arguably too old for a team thats in a complete rebuild. Ottawa would want someone that can stick around and build a team around. And Tarasanko isn't going to waste his talent on a team that's not competitive. You're talking 5-10 years before this team could be a serious contender.
3.) They're just bad trading partners in this context. Unless you wanted to do a Tarasanko and Blais for Tkachuk. But you'd still need to add.
3.)

Can't just take into account point production. Brady is a unique player as he leads the league in shots on net and also has a real chance to lead the league in hits as well. Would be first player ever to do both in a single season. Oh, and also not talking about his leadership intangibles and the fact that he is an asset that will gain in value compared to Tarasenko.

If you are expecting a Tkachuk-like return, there will be no good trading partners, ever, but perhaps, you just underated Tkachuk.

I am not saying blues should/would accept the trade, I was only trying to get a sense of what it would need. You are right though that the major hurdle would be to convince Tarasenko to come play for an up and coming team.

Ott isn't 5-10 years away... more likely 3-7, but a player like Tarasenko can perhaps bring to them to within 2 years of contention as what they really lack is a Proven Goal Scorer.
