Pros: Ottawa has a roster player for the LTIR money and does not have a cap problem that Minnesota has. Maybe they could benefit more from taking Brent from Chicago, so I just listed a 7th here in order for you to discuss the possible outcomes of this trade.

If Seabrook stays on LTIR, there is no benefit/disadvantage of the Hawks or any team. It's really a nonsense, 99% of these LTIR trades. Why does Parise waive his NMC to Ottawa? Besides Ottawa can spend 7.5m a lot better than on Parise.

I know that Chicago is rich, but maybe they don't want to pay him salary. Ottawa needs a veteran to teach those kids the stuff. They might sign Foligno or any other respected person, but they might also gain some picks.

You're scenario makes no sense at all. The LTIR of Seabrook means nothing. But Parise's poor contract and his NMC means everything. Beside Parise can waive his NMC for the expansion draft, knowing Seattle doesn't want him,

Ok. But Parise is not THAT bad. He is still capable of producing 30-40 points while healthy. Him staying healthy is my only concern. But OK. Your opinion also makes sense.

I just think there are some guys with NMC that will waive their NMC for the expansion draft, knowing they won't be picked, but it allows their team to in effect protect another player.

No, last expansion draft, players were allowed to waive their NMC for the expansion draft only, and then after the draft reinstated their NMC.
