I think Makar would look sick on Winnipeg. I just don't know he signs there due to Canadian dollar and all that. Also don't know their cap situation. Devils can drop 11mil and not think about it.

I like it. I think he's young enough the contract doesn't turn into an Erik Karlsson problem. You'd probably want the NJD looking a little more competitive than they are currently as Makar would definitely be someone to help put them over the top. Probably best to keep building and not cheat the process for long-term success.

Probably right, and doubt Fitz would do it but it'd give more incentive for Colorado not to match. A possible top 5 pick unprotected in a stacked draft and being able to not tear their entire team apart when Mackinnon is ganna jump to McDavid money.

True, I just think Makar fits so well. Huge risk but he's already a top 10 defenseman in this league at least and he's the same age as the rest of NJ's core. High end defensive talent is really the only thing missing on this team but that's betting all the young players continue developing the way they have been.

The jets can drop the money easily as well. However, they want more of a defensive presence and makar simple doesn’t bring that so he isn’t worth that price (yet). That said, I would still make Theo ded sheet just to put divisional rival colorado in cap hell lol. As for him signing, keep in mind that makar is Canadian. Yes he’s from Calgary who has a bit of a milder winter than Winnipeg, but Winnipeg also isn’t without its advantages. I think they are very comparable cities so Winnipeg could be very enticing to him, especially if the jets are willing to through that cap space around.

If we get Makar, I think that makes us a playoff hopeful team. And even though the 2022 first could be a generational talent, I think I would hurt us too much
