The amount of long term big money on this roster is insane. They would be horrible for years and even if they draft well, they won't be able to afford anyone unless guys retire.
I took a different approach this time. Last time, I had a weak roster with a bunch of cap space. Seattle should take advantage of teams by gaining assets and improving their team by taking big contracts. I didn't do a great job with acquiring assets, but I think Seattle will do something like this (a little less scaled) to stay competitive and be good for the future

I honestly don't think this team would be competitive. They'd be a bubble team at best but more likely a team that finishes 10 points out and gets the 10th overall pick and then get worse each year. If they draft well and young players need big money it'll be hard because they have so many long term big money deals. There are some deals just not worth getting. And most of them are on this squad.
Do you think it would be worth it if the Preds and Sharks give up their first to make Seattle take Johansen and Burns?
I agree with JVR and Loui. I just saw some news that Francis is scaring GMs by making the price high for not taking certain players. Im guessing the price is going to be very high to take bad contracts
I don’t think Seattle will bite. Centers will be scarce for Francis but RNH is a UFA. Johansen isn’t the marquee 1C you want to saddle your franchise to. RNH isn't perfect but a better all around game.
I don’t see how Burns would make sense for Seattle. SJ may try to move a big deal to create space. It will be pricey.
Jones always was on the bottom pair, and not going against the tougher competition like Lagesson has. If Jones was second pair his would be less than Lagessons is.
Per PuckIQ, Caleb Jones has higher Corsi For% Vs Elite Players than Lagesson. (Jones has 53.40, Lagesson has 48.6)

Assuming they are in the Pacific division, I think they make the playoffs.

I honestly don't see high end free agents signing with Seattle like Nuge. I was thinking Seattle would bring in Burns as a marketing face
I would like to protect bellows but i just dont see the organization doing it. And if im ron francis im probably taking bellows if hes unprotected. Big fan of this post but you have pk subban protected and an option to be picked

It will be interesting to see if Seattle tries to mimic VGK by getting a player “early” to be their face. I can see RNH being that guy more than the other UFAs.

Instead of drafting overpaid players like this AGM, Seattle should draft UFAs rights and overbid on the UFA market for top 6 talent (Iafallo, Shwartz, Saad, Hoffman, Tatar, Danault, Hall, Palmieri) a top Dman(Hamilton) and 1A goalie (Andersen, Grubauer or Raanta).
The risk of ending empty handed is small since you didn't help all those teams to free cap space to compete with you on the market. Way smaller than the financial risk of getting those bad contracts...

Whoops. I changed that last second. I'll go change it
Maybe, but they would lose in the playoffs and not get better since the team you have constructed is old and will only get worse.
After Vegas got to the finals with a team full of no names on their first year, maybe making predictions on Seattle's future playoff run isn't the best idea.
