Does Plekanec help the Stars this year?

I think the Stars make this deal. Oduya isn't likely to be back next season given the Stars' current D situation, and given the skilled forward injuries they've sustained this year I believe Plekanec could have a role in the lineup. Sharp likely isn't planned to be back next year either. I'm sure Montreal would want to wait and see if Sharp finds his game after having early concussion issues, but I would bet Dallas would be listening if this deal was put on the table.

This is actually a pretty good trade that can help both teams. My only concern is that the Habs are taking a little too much cap for this to be feasible. Dallas would have to retain a little bit salary or the Habs would have to throw in a player like Desharnais or something like that.


Edit: Once Dallas realizes they aren't making the playoffs this year, I think Montreal and Dallas are the perfect trading partners to help each other get something they could use.

I think this trade helps Montreal for the playoffs with more depth also both players played in Chicago, Bergevin knows them and they won cups. It helps Dallas because they don't keep these players beyond this year.

Montreal would still need a second line center (Hanzal ?).
