3rd for LGD no retention

I've been advocating for Glendening for a while now. Bringing him in makes tons of sense

I doubt it. Staal was traded with 50% retention (on $3.25mill, so only a $1.625mill cap hit) for a 3rd and a 5th. LGD at $1.8mill for a 3rd? No thank you. DET eats a bad contract for that price. A 4th is reasonable. I really doubt his FO% will jack up his value that much. There are multiple similar 4C's available, with few teams seeking that type of player at the TDL

That's fine, you don't get him and someone will pay the price for him. Staal is having a worse season then LGD and has a different value. 1.8 is the same contract for staal technically and no 5th so just a 3rd and it's equal. Playoff teams would rather take lgd right now for his Faceoffs then staal and his lack of scoring. I'm totally fine with you passing because 24 other playoff teams want him right now and we'll get our 3rd and I can care less that the oilers aren't the team to get him

On no planet is LGD anywhere near as valuable as Staal. Staal is a 100 point scorer. Long time captain and leader. Won a cup. Scored 47 points in 66 games last year. As of last season, he is a very productive 2C. I really doubt a down year an a historically bad Buffalo team takes away that much from his value. You can't compare a guy with Staal's track record to LGD who has had an unusually high FO% this season and has never scored 30 points. Staal is at a steal of cap hit. The retention factored into the return of a 3rd + 5th rounder. Realistically, the 5th was the cost of retention, the 3rd for the player. LGD for a 4th is fair, but ill be on the record as saying I dont like giving up a 3rd, incase your right lol

Sounds good, but talking about staals past accomplishments compared to his season now is way different. Marleau isn't worth a 7th now and has a better career then LGD as well. There are a lot of teams that covet him so I'm sure he will go for a 3rd and if your right and it's a 4th I'll say it the opposite of you that I don't like it

I think Vancouver would retain 50% on Sutter for a 2nd.

glendening is overated, if they really wanted ryan they would have claimed him. Sutter is the only one that makes sense
