I'm not going to sit here and act like I wasn't guilty of creating about a dozen ACGM posts about how the Rangers could acquire Eichel. Guilty as charged. I credit that to 3 specific reasons at the time...

1) Zibenejad was still struggling mightily.
2) Strome still had the distinction of being a mediocre player held up by Panarin.
3) We're a big market. Anytime something bright and shiny is mentioned, we feel we NEED to have it.

Fast Forward to now, where logic has caught up...

1) The real Zibenejad is still here. He's back. We have a 1C. And even if we resign him him after next year, he will cost about the same as Eichel, without giving up Prospects.
2) Strome is legit. He has quieted the naysayers. I doubt the Cap will allow us to keep him long term. But we have a solid combo up top for next Season, without a trade.
3) The youth movement for this team is more important than 1 player. While the Center Depth will have to be dealt with at some point, our Depth everywhere else is fantastic. Let the kids play. See what we have.

This isn't the NBA. One large trade for 1 player isn't the answer. Stay the course. Embrace the youth.
