Is gusev a top 6 player? We will give EDM'S 3rd this year for him if he waives

He could be in Edmonton. He just doesn't fit in the Devils top 6. A 3rd could be fair and I'm assuming he would waive

Removing the UFAs from this roster leaves NJ so bereft of NHL level talent, that they will struggle to find players worth protecting from Seattle.

Seems like former locks to be protected, like Johnsson & McLeod, have now played their way to a potential Seattle roster spot.

If they take Subban, that would be fine. It just saves us money and we could easily replace him through free agency. I would be happy if they take Merkley, not the biggest fan of him. I'm fine with Johnsson being taken as well, it would give the younger players more opportunities. Bastian would hurt but I doubt they take him over the other options available

I disagree, some if the ufas on this team suck this year. I am happy to extend coverage to a player who has shown up to play.

If PK continues his good play, I could see it being him for a few reasons. Thought there would be an add but maybe not.

Honestly, there are few players who need to be protected that will hurt. Prefer to keep vs receiving nothing in return, sure, but hurt ... meh. They really need some value out of this trade deadline and draft, but both are looking soft. Tough spot.

We aren't in that bad of a spot compared to other teams. It depends on how the TDL goes. I heard that every Bubble team/playoff team contacted the Devils within the last week for a trade

Last year TDL was perfect. Stealing Kuok from the Canes, getting a first and Foote for Coleman, and stealing a second for Greene. I hope the Devils are really active at the deadline
