And no. I think they are more concerned about their guys being comfortable than the other team planning against it... at least at this point of the season. Maybe final 10 games or so but still, always best to be concerned with yourself and not others. You want to be dictating the play not reacting to it.

that would be cool if they bamboozled teams like that. Also if Robertson gets some minutes during the playoffs, I'd think they'd switch it up a little anyways so he can get some shots

I just don't see the need to load up a second PP unit that will see almost no time on the ice. Especially in the playoffs where the whistles disappear for anything short of murder. May as well just load up PP1 with Nylander - JT - AM and Marner with.. actually, I don't hate Holl there but he's already going to be playing 20+ tough minutes at 5-v-5 and the PK so probably Rielly. Maybe replace JT with Simmonds for net-front (I would prefer Willy on the PP to give the Leafs another RHS).

Oh yes this makes sense. Don't play your best PP, and then lose more games in regular season, just so you can use this secret weapon PP in the playoffs.
