DISCUSSION Talking trade values

Description
Trade 1: What picks/players/prospects need to be added on either side to make this fair? This is not an endorsement of a Danault to LA trade but more a gauge of his value

Trade 2: Out of curiosity, I am curious to see what Canadiens fans would want at this stage of Caufield's development versus what Kings fans would be willing to give up.

Without giving up one of LA's big 3 prospects (Byfield, Turcotte or Vilardi), I don't think there is much that LA could give up that Montreal would be interested in for Caufield.

    Honestly,

1- Jeff Carter always said that if he were traded, He will retire so that's not even a discussion
2- As a Habs fans, Caufield is a no go. So u will need to overpay for him

If I'm MTL VIlardi he's not even in the discussion. Too many injury the risk is too big.

I agree, if Vilardi came as part of a package then maybe, but I don't think that is something LA wants to give up either.

Interesting, didn’t know that about Carter. I’m not a Lings or Habs fan I’m just curious. What’s your value gauge on Danault?

As not a Kings or Habs fan, I’m curious what a package based around Vilardi would look like. Any ideas? Also, thoughts on the trade value of Danault in general?

What would a Vilardi package have to look like for you to be comfortable? Any NHL players involved, too?

    My thoughts exactly.

But to answer Danault...... realistically I would argue the Habs would be looking for an NHL ready prospect and a pick..... not that would ever he LA.

You didn't know that because it's not fricken true. So sick of dispelling this rumor.

Jeff Carter has consistently denied that he ever said anything of the sort. Quit spewing this nonsense. Link with actual, you know, quotes below.

Here's an excerpt if you don't have The Athletic: “I’m 20 games from 1,000, so I don’t think I’m retiring,” [Carter] said at the team’s getaway day Monday. “I got three years left on my contract. I want to be an L.A. King. I want to help change things around here, but I don’t have no-trade protection so whatever happens, happens. And I never talked about retiring either. Never came out of my mouth.”

Before I respond to this, I want to make sure I understand what you're saying. Are you saying Montreal would -maybe- accept trading Caufield if Byfield was coming the other way?

There's absolutely nothing in that article that supports your statement of "Jeff Carter always said..." McKenzie makes a single off-hand comment about an option for a player and in typical fashion Canadian media blows it completely out if proportion. Even after Carter explicitly denies the comment himself, people still run with it. What a joke.

And I think you're way off base on Caufield's value if you think there's even a remote hesitation from Bergevin to accept an offer if Blake dangled Byfield (which he absolutely won't, so I agree with you there).
