Dermott is better than Montour.

Sabres take that and run...Montour is awful

dermott is expiring as an RFA, montour is a UFA. Leafs lose control, and give up the better player

Montour is only a -6 this year on a bad sabers team with 3 points while Dermott has 1 point and only a plus 2 on a good leafs team.

Also, last year Montour was a +13 on a bad sabers team last year too

Sorry that's a real poor reason to trade Kerfoot for a UFA. "cause the Leafs need cap room next summer". Kerfoot is easily tradable if needed and Leafs need players available for the Seattle draft.

Montour had a GF differential of +9 at 5v5, while riding a 103.6 PDO, and getting out chanced by every single metric available, all while performing worse relative to his teammates.
