2 years is a long time to not play - if the Rangers bury him that long he will never see the ice in the NHL again.
if he mutually terminates and finds another team to sign him, he can extend his career...

i'm not saying one or the other will happen, i'm just saying if the guy wants to extend his NHL career, ending things with the Rangers is the best scenario for him.

Well...it means something. It means that those teams who could afford him didn’t want him.

Sens, Devils, Kings and Red Wings - none of those teams really need a guy like ADA.
especially if they are young and rebuilding.

there is only like 4 teams that could technically "add him for free" - not getting claimed on waivers means nothing.

Personally I'd prefer to just keep him out of the lineup for the duration of his contract to save the pick and avoid a buyout penalty (I know the penalty is small but we have a lot of young players due for raises soon)

The fact that he cleared waivers tells you that his value is negative. Nobody wants him, even for free.

Maaaaybe if Rangers retain half and add a pick they could move him as a cap dump though.
