Adjusting the Plan Part I

Description
If the Canucks lose their series with Ottawa that starts tonight, I think the writing will be on the wall for the season. There would be a legitimate chance that Benning is fired before the end of the year, but Green would probably be brought back. The new GM would step in and acquire assets at the deadline to fuel an active offseason.

All trades were made within the Canadian division to reduce/remove quarantine times. Montreal adds to their incredible depth and they have the picks to burn. Edmonton has heeded a right handed C for a while and adding another one behind Turris provides some insurance for cheap. Toronto get's a depth defenseman. Destinations can be adjusted based on who's higher or lower in the standings.

Podkolzin steps in when the KHL season ends. Ferland is moved off LTIR to accrue cap space.

not sure the HABS would make that deal. Personnaly i really like Pearson as a player, would have add him anytime last year or before the Toffoli signing but i just don't see now a psot for him on the top 9 rosters. They already have a very strong top 9, Pearson would't be a upgrade over any one. He could took Armia spot but it would make much difference. i think Montreal would be more incline top add prospect and pick to get a top forward.

Yeah, like @gfy said, we don’t really need Pearson that much. He isn’t enough of an upgrade on our current forwards to justify the price tag. We’d probably be much more apt to use those picks to trade for a defenseman.

if the Canucks aren't in the playoff i would call them about Jt MIller. Would cost us a top prospect and possibly our first round pick but the return would be great. Now you switch back Toffoli to is natural side and gets a premium winger. Armia have had a great game but we all know he score in sequence. If both Kotkaniemi and Suzuki continu to perform and progress i think Bergevin need to be all in this upcoming deadline.

If you'd rather get a defenseman that's fine, but I do think that Pearson would be worth it. You need depth in the Playoffs and you can never have enough of it, especially when its your main strength.

Tatar - Danualt - Gallagher
Drouin - Suzuki - Anderson
Pearson - Kotkaniemi - Toffoli
Byron - Evans - Armia
Lehkonen, Perry

That depth is ridiculous. I do think reuniting Pearson and Toffoli would be worth it. I would gladly take that on the Canucks.

Miller is not available. It would take something stupid like Suzuki. I wouldn't take Caufield for Miller. He was our best forward last year and has grown into an important leader.

That would be great, but if we’re healthy, Pearson isn’t an entire 2nd & 3rd round pick better than Lehkonen. Although I’d consider this if we have 2 or 3 injuries on the wing.

Fair enough. What do you think would be fair? Would dropping the 3rd be enough?

I think that a 2nd and a 3rd is a fair deal, it’s just that Montréal doesn’t have as much incentive to add him as other teams. But he should fetch a 2nd & a 3rd at the deadline for Vancouver to get fair value.

Alright. I really like the way Montreal is built this year and overloading up front would be of interest to me, especially since you have enough picks to still get a defenseman after. It takes two to deal though.

JT miller is a damn fine players but man you need to stop with this delirium. Suzuki is 21 and probably is as good as Miller at the moment. There not a single GM that would consider that once. Toronto have had Kapanen, Harrington, a first round pick and other pieces for him. Any deal for Miller would be similar in term of value Kessel was a multiple Allstar so dont expect to received a already oustanding 21 centerman. i know that its very unlikely that they trade him but they have Salary issue coming up with Boeser, Petterson, Hugues extension talk. That wont come sheep, they have try to trade out some salary this offseason but its not Beagle or roussel with a 3 million salary that will entertain interest.

I know asking for Suzuki is ridiculous, that's why it won't happen. It's different from Kessel because it was apparent that Kessel was done in Toronto, whereas the Canucks have no reason to move Miller. We will make cap space in ways other than trading arguably our best forward last year and a core player.

Man with that defensive squad you wont make the playoff. No offense but Myers an Hugues are awful defensively. Edler is aging still a decent defender, Schmidt creates a lot of turnover. Tanev was extremelly useful. That the reason i think a trade could be work around him. He have value would bring a great return. it would gave Vancouver cap relief and could built for year to come with Petterson Boeser and Hugues. Lets Say Bergevin offer Armia (contract rights)or Kulak, Kaiden Guhle was a absolute beast for Canada at 18 years old at the U-20. Josh Brook turn pro last year on a team that was in a transition in Laval, he had a strong finish their and a first round pick 2021. thats a damn good offer.
i was always a big Canucks fan and have fallow their activities for over 25 years now and i was very excited with their new young core but Benning have screw thing over just like Chiarelli in Edmonton. giving that much money for Myers, Roussel, Beagle, Erickson, Ferland. Let Markstrom walk away like that was a huge mistake considering the contract that he sign . He could keep Toffoli ( who cost a very great prospect and a Second rounder that have become Niederbach) at a very reasonable price 4.25millions for 4 years. i dont think they are going in the right direction at all.

I kinda understand what you're trying to say, but trading Miller will be a net negative unless its Suzuki or someone similar. If Montreal isn't going to meet that bar (which they shouldn't) then there's no deal to be made here. Here's a potential deal that wouldn't involve Suzuki:

Miller + Eriksson for Kotkaniemi + Romanov + Evans + 1st 2021 + 1st 2022

That's not much better either. There is no deal to be made here.
