I just want to touch on the "His value dropped because he asked for a trade." part, because it irks me when people say it without really thinking about it. I'm curious as to why you'd think it?
Here's how I look at it:
-PLD wants to be traded.
-He's under team control for 4 more years.
-He's 22.
-He has absolutely zero leverage.
-There's no rush to move him, and Jarmo has continued to show that he's probably the most underrated GM in the league.
If anything, I'd say his value has probably increased, given that there's a number of suitors out there looking to pick him up, now that they know he's available. As I said above, it's not like there's a gun to their head where they HAVE to move him, they just know that at some point, it's something that they're going to do. But, they can wait until they get the best offer available. Honestly, there's probably 15+ teams checking in on him, which is going to drive the price up. I realistically see no reason why anyone would think that Columbus would take a discount to move him at this point.
Also, from PLD's side, his best bet of being traded is to actually go out and play 100% every game (Again, since Columbus isn't likely to sell him at a discount).
