I'd rather give Barabanov a shot and Engvall offers pretty close to what Khaira offers.

Also, currently if Leafs manage cap correctly they can add a $4m+ player at deadline.

Adding a $1.2m 4th liner would leave less than half of that at the deadline.

True, but not giving it a try is kind of a wasted opportunity. Dubas had interest in Khaira, not sure if he still does, but we could always waive him and send him to the taxi squad if he is not claimed. Adds more depth into the lineup, especially for the playoffs

Well, Simmonds definitely added an element Leafs were probably interested in with Khaira.

I don't love him on that 4th line. Spezza and Simmonds aren't strong defensively, and Khaira can't chip in offensively enough to help Spezza/Simmonds contribute a bit of offence. So what would that line bring?

Kind of like Clifford + Spezza wasn't a good fit.

Edmonton had a line of Neal- Khaira -Chiasson last year in the playoffs pretty similar to this 4th line. it was a pretty good line actually they hit everything that moved.
