I think that Chara and Schultz can be a very good d pairing.

Chara and Schultz does not sound like a good idea.
Chara can't move. Schultz is incompetent in his own end. That's bound to not end well.
Chara should be up ice as little as possible. So he doesn't have to skate to get back. And Schultz should be hidden in the Ozone as much as possible because it's a disaster when he's not.
If anything these two should be kept separate as much as possible.

Honestly I think Schultz can be very mobile and capable under the caps system. There’s a new coaching staff and I think that this team will be able to utilize the defense better than they did when the team was under reirden. I think Chara’s physicality and awareness will help counteract the fact that Schultz is typically less capable in his own end and the two could end up working very well together. We might not be able to see this pairing regardless and honestly maybe Chara would work better with Jensen anyways.
