Value is there... But LEAFS don't need any more big contracts. JVR can play now, Mantha and the 1st....more in the future. And Ericsson is not needed at all by the Leafs.

Value is there... But LEAFS don't need any more big contracts. JVR can play now, Mantha and the 1st....more in the future. And Ericsson is not needed at all by the Leafs.

Ericsson isn't needed by anyone. But in the spirit of Toronto giving the rebuild another year or two and Detroit refusing to go into a rebuild phase the trade made sense for both teams. I don't think Ericsson very far from going on ltir-retirement with his hip so it's not a terrible contract to eat.
