I think that Lafreniere and Svechnikov will have similar value when they're in their primes, but there is still a chance Lafreniere could be a bust or even not a star player, just a good player.

Yup doesn’t matter if he has comparable numbers at the KHL as Panarin at the same age who is arguably the best winger in hockey rn..... not saying he’ll ever fill those shoes but the footsteps r very similar

You take the guy with an awesome pedigree who is a legit top line winger in the NHL now, rather than the 23 year old who hasn’t played an NHL game. Lots of guys that rip up the KHL can’t cut it in the national.
