I think you're the only one implying they get mid level prospects.

My vision of what a trade would be with Winnipeg would be Toews (-$3M) for a 2021 1st, 2021 2nd, 2022 4th, Vesalainen, and Heinola for Stastny and Perreault (both of which are to free room on expiring contracts)

and, why are you ****ting on Toews and him getting older, then trying to get him for almost nothing?
if he's that bad, and going to get worse as per your implication, why go for him with that big of a cap hit for 3 seasons?

I gamble for him with taking on full cap hit, and don’t give up anything for it other than caphit. Possibly a few change of scenery bubble jets/moose, no 1sts

Devils advocate on a bunch of guys thinking he’s got 3 top end years left, when he’s probably has a year of top end hockey left a mediocre year, and a questionable buyout before year 3, Jets don’t send anything too exciting for him, and if they do what happens when the hawks knock them down to bubble team. All this retain 3 million off is crazy, that’s a solid kid off his entry level deal, that your basically trading for 3 years of retention. Jets can’t afford to miss on him and pay that much for him, your going to have to peddle him to large markets who can buy there way out of any possible mistakes. Like a leafs type scenario of shipping marleaus third year to Carolina for a 1st.

it's nothing like Marleau.

Marleau had to be moved for the leafs to be cap compliant otherwise they suffer a penalty or couldn't ice their roster.

you're comparing apples to Volkswagens.

Toews is 32, Stastny is 34... if Winnipeg went to get Stastny to be a 2C with 1 year left, then they believe certain players can play until 35 years of age (Don't forget 2 years ago they tried to sign him in FA)... which Toews would be at the end of the current contract.

cap retention is only to help make the move go through, as 10.5 is a lot, but Winnipeg or any team trading for him don't care about the 10.5, they care about the cap hit and salary related to the player they are getting.

I disagree with your assessment, Sure, Toews may not be a 30 goal 1C anymore, but he's a 20 goal 70 point 2C who brings experience, locker room leadership on top of his talent and skill, and you're discounting that as though he's some 4th line overpaid scrub.

so what would you give for a 20 goal, 70 point 2C?... if your answer is Stastny... then you're clearly letting your hometown bias affect this.

I’m buying at 10.5 not 7.5, but yes all I would offer up would be Stastney, niku, stanley, possibly vaselainen, but that would be the extent of it, mostly change of scenery or projects that need time over anything surefire. But with the 4.0 million year one and extra 21 million over next two, open up doors for duclair, Hoffman, and possibly whatever else might be sitting out there to be snapped up with some maneuvering. Gives a window on seeing what is there in strome. My view is from wpg more than Chicago, and if your gambling for an all in, u need to limit the quality that is ready right now from leaving. Free agents aren’t coming so cap room isn’t as big a factor, but a need for developed talent is a premium. Just saying my opinion on a top offer I would do as a jets fan, but I’m probably a miniority on that front, other jets fans would sell the farm, for Toews.

Hawks have had longer droughts than the coyotes and jets have even existed.

Keep telling yourself that to make you feel better. Hawks are a top 2 or 3 franchise, longest record of sellout crowds in the one of the larger stadiums in the league. Go to a Blackhawks Yotes game in Arizona....I've been to a few...it's comical that stadium is 75% of Hawks fans. There is reason for that.

Nice 12/14 year run, previous to that home black outs, running last in town. But enjoy the run, peaks and valleys in everything, 1961 to 2010 was a bit of a gap of relevance.

You clearly don't know your hockey if you think the Hawks were irrelevant from 1961 to 2010. I'm guessing you aren't old enough to remember hockey 20 years ago let alone 30 or 40 years ago.

Let me help you kid; there was one dark era for about 10 years but otherwise the hawks have been hugely relevant; never heard of Hawks games in the Chicago Stadium that caused hearing damage from the crowd cheering and the seats would vibrate? Hawks have been a top 2 or 3 franchise in terms of fans and revenues for decades; unlike the Yotes and Jets and you, they weren't born yesterday.

Together, the Yotes and Jets have 1...yes only ONE division championship. No cups, no presidents trophies, and no conference championships.

Blackhawks = 6 cups, 2 presidents trophies, 4 conference champs, 16 divisional championships....that RELEVANCE was during the 60s, 70s, 90s on 2010s.

Please stop, you're embarrassing yourself.

Cup in 61 and a cup in 2010, team that must be mighty thankful for the leafs, 92 cup appearance, and what else was there after the golden jet left in 72. Not exactly sure what the hype and excitement was about between Bobby Hull/ed Belfour/johnathon toews. That’s a lot of mediocre times, but stay on that high perch, blind squirrel finds a nut every so often.

Hawks have had a nice run it’s done, quality division rival, take over for Minnesota and hold the rest of the division up from the cellar.
