Even though Sprong has a smaller sample size, I'd rather take a flier on him at his current cap hit than give up a 2nd. His possession numbers are much better.

Edit: especially if we are already giving up a 2nd to dump contracts. That would be fine to do if NJD accepts, but I wouldn't want to give up 2nds in back to back years. If Caps flame out again in 20-21, could be staring down the barrel of a rebuild sooner than people think. Or at least a large retooling.

If the Capitals flame out we have a ton of assets we can move to gain drat picks. Orlov, Kuzy and Eller would all get a sizeable return.
