Your points are quite valid and yeah he'd be a top 6 F there for 3 years... it's amazing that people will just abruptly dismiss ideas like this... especially in an offseason where so many established players chose to sign with much worse teams than expected

He loses a bunch of money because of taxes, and has to spend the next 4 years in Ottawa, instead of being on the defending Stanley Cup champions. I don’t see why he would waive.
