I'm sorry but no one player in the NHL is worth that. Save for McDavid simply because he's still young, on his ELC and he's a marketing gem for any team.

Back in the 80's and 90's? Ok maybe this trade works. But nowadays? Nope. Taking Crosby at his prime without concussion problems and inserting him into Toronto last year does not make them win a cup. You need a full team of good players to win in today's NHL.

Agree with your premise, but the Oilers are the wrong team in the trade.. They're rebuilding and to give up all that for three years of Karsslson ain't worth it. Can't see SJ who are near the cap wanting to take Ryan or any team wanting Ryan without big money coming back to Ottawa.

I don't think the value is AWFUL IMO; Leafs would be very interested if the Super Swede goes on the market can give you lots of prospects!

Oilers aren't actually rebuildiing anymore, they just can't seem to do well. Karlsson instantly makes that roster contenders.
