Ummm klef being out I’m not sure means it’s a good time to blow up the top 4 completely. As much as I do really like benning if he is your 2nd most experienced d I hope it’s a very short season so we don’t get stuck watching how it plays out too long.

Is that really the defense Edmonton wants ? Don’t a draft pick needs to be added to the Bruins trade. Me thinks the Oilers should keep Nurse.

Nurse is a great second pair guy- but he doesn’t move the puck as effectively as some of the young guys in the oilers system, even this year. Therefore they should move him for a forward, seeing as he can easily be replaced by jones who imo was better last year

I think they need to blow up the D anyways. The young guys they currently have are all going amazing and will carry them through the future- they don’t need nurse lugging them down anymore. Larsson would be a great piece but I feel like he can be replaced by Bouchard pretty easily.

Ya we tried that thought process before with Shultz by the time realized he was in way over his head way too soon it was too late and bringing in a veteran to help shelter his minutes was far too pricy only to watch us get a very limited return on a guy who went on to win 2 cups in a matter of a season and a half. No doubt we have the youth coming up but prime minutes too soon can derail everything and cripple development. Keep in mind Bouch looked really good in ahl but Shultz destroyed the ahl. Let’s be careful with these promising young d and make sure they pan out before blowing it up.

EDM and Leafs have something major in common, they both have moron for GMs, not as big of morons as the pens but pretty high. BOTH teams should be using their mid teens pick to grab top 6 (for EDM) and top5 (for leafs) mids 20s Dmen and forwards to held their win now teams...neither McDavid nor Mathews/Tavares are getting younger.....they need players NOW not in 3-5 years....

Only guy we’re taking a risk on here is Bouchard- if he’s clearly not ready his his 9 games, send him down and have one of the stopgap league minimum guys we signed play instead

I’m sorry but you’re the moron here. Only bad move Holland has made so far for the oilers is trading for Athenasiou, but nobody could’ve seen him getting injured like that tbh. These trades make this team better now, I don’t know what you mean 3/5 years...

I think your underestimating how tough of minutes klef and larsson soak up. Expecting bear to enter his second year and be capable of taking that on and progress his own game is a huge risk personally. Jones has only tasted a few cups of coffee moving him straight into top four is risky. Bouch can be sent down but should also consider might not be an ahl to send him to so it could very well be with oilers or back overseas preventing a call up option. I can understand why your thinking the way you are here and do respect it but honestly don’t really agree now is that time. It’s putting a lot of eggs in one basket if that basket begins to crumble it’s very very very very difficult to correct during the season. I completely agree and share your views on the promise of the youth but promise needs to be proven capable before such moves in my opinion.

Well he did strike out with green as well but in fairness both those moves could easily have been argued as quality good additions heading towards a deep run. Not putting blame on holland for either of them because it was refreshing to see buyer type moves. Crap happens didn’t work but was nice attempt.
