ARI should be keeping a young C and a young D, not dealing them away.
they should be shipping out older players before even looking at these guys

AZ needs draft picks. I get this deal wont happen it is just a thought that i think benefits both teams. Buf need to make playoffs next year and this will certainly help

Honestly, I'd probably trade Schmaltz for Risto+, but I'm in the minority among Coyotes fans.

i think this trade works for both teams. AZ gets 8OA and 38 OA, a young prospect who has top 6 potential, and still a very young defenseman who can put up 40-45 points consistently. AZ will get two good players to add to their prospect pool which is not very good at all

I thought Buffalo was giving up too much when I first looked at this.

Then I decided to evaluate the move:
Schmaltz, Nick for Ristolainen, Rasmus
Chychrun, Jakob for Thompson, Tage [RFA Rights], 2020 1st round pick (BUF) and 2021 2nd round pick (BUF).

IMO you may have the value pegged.
I would not do it as Buffalo lacks the NHL depth and prospect depth to make moves as this.
Murray did that and we got Dahlin in the bargain.
So IMO it is an even trade that fills two of Buffalo's holes, I would not do it.

AZ needs draft picks but not at the expense of probably the only 2 guys that are a lock to stay. They will move OEL, Kuemper, Kessel heck probably even Keller before they move Chychrun and Smaltz.

They definitely do need picks, but they should be keeping good young players under decent deals
