What are you smoking... Gio had 56 points with 21 goals and is a very solid d man... vs Hedmon... are you kidding!!!! Not to mention the leadership level!
No matter as this trade would be impossible as Calgary wouldn't have the cap space left to sign Nikita Kucherov - unless you wanted to take Wideman and then you would be over the cap...

When you put Ladislav Smid on LTIR, trade Ultraman Gio, and Backlund, you have $21,176,600. If Gaudreau is signed with a $7,000,000 deal, and Kucherov is signed with a $6,250,000 deal, factor in Stralman and Namestnikov and we still have $1,489,100 left. In fact enough to give both of them more money.
