How is that relevant in comparing Hischier (1oa) to Laine (2oa) with both now multiple years into their NHL careers?

I think their potentials are similar but Hischier plays C which is valued higher than a winger.

Between RNH (2011) and Yakupov (2012), there were three forwards taken 1st overall before Hischier:

2013: Nathan MacKinnon
2015: Connor McDavid
2016: Auston Matthews

So what you are saying is: "Hischier is fine .... he has a lower ceiling than MacKinnon, McDavid and Matthews."

First, NJD has 7oa, not 8oa
Second, on Severson or Butcher - there is a wide gap in value between these two. Severson >> Butcher.
Third, Hischier is not small...you are confusing him with jack Hughes, who needs to add size.
