I watched a lot of Simmonds last year and he was totally washed. Not even a depth piece. Also Gudas was terrible last year.

Looks like you’ve changed this up since the comments. Seems about right.

Leafs will sit Marincin in the pressbox and move marlies up for road trips to accrue cap space.

I would be happy with this team and at TDL we will have an idea what to add.

Not the OP - and I didn't watch him a whole lot.

I don't usually believe when aging vets say they can bounce back, but if his injuries/surgeries were nagging him last few years, I think he may be worth a shot at $1.5M or less. Playing for his hometown team, get guaranteed PP2 time, brings some elements the team is lacking, solid leader/teammate per all accounts.

He looks nothing like the player that murdered the Devils in Philly. I was excited to get him to protect Hughes but he was slow and afraid to mix it up. It also looked like he was afraid to get hurt. He is only in the league for name recognition.

IMO the Leafs need at least one more different element in that Top 9. I don't want 9 tough guys signed or acquired, but a Simmonds/Perry type would be handy in a CLB/NYI playoff series. Someone else not afraid to get to the net and get a few garbage goals. Leafs don't have too many of those players at the moment.

As great as their top 9 should have been if healthy last year, theres a lot of similar players, and not many that earn their $$ in front of the other teams net.

Obviously some of that has to be ingrained in every player next year, (think they have to preach "playoff hockey" when the puck drops in the preseason) but having a guy that already knows how to live in the blue paint would help.
