  1. Kuemper, Darcy (1 500 000 $ retained)
ARI
  1. Andersen, Frederik
  2. Kivihalme, Teemu
Détails additionnels:
Andersen only needs to be paid $1M, so even with ARI retaining $1.5M, they still save $2M in this deal and only have Andersen (a mostly equivalent goalie) for only one season.

Threw in Kivihalme to incentivize the retained salary, but maybe ARI would want a slightly better prospect in return.

There are only 20 players on this roster when you need 23 and you are up against the cap. Toronto wouldn’t play with a roster of 20 players.

False. You do not need 23 players. 23 is simply the limit.

Is there a maximum number of contracts permitted?
The maximum number of contracts per team permitted is as follows:
Up until the day of the trade deadline, the NHL roster size limit is 23 (Non-roster, IR, LTIR, SOIR, etc. do not count to this limit). On and after the trade deadline, there is no roster size limit.

Hmm. Why don’t the oilers just offer maroon that contract instead of doing the trade?

Once again with Leaf fans Coyotes arent even gonna look at that trade . Coyotes have no need for Andersen and Kuemper's value is really high like over payment to get him

There's no realism in this post. Only wishful thinking and lacking team building.

Coyotes are absolutely considering a trade involving Kuemper and Andersen, but I think they'll probably get a bigger return from the Leafs (especially if we're getting retained salary from ARI in this trade).

ARI will be one of the many teams looking to shed salary as their financial situation is pretty dire. A trade along these lines actually makes sense for them, because they acquire a goaltender that can form a tandem with Raanta. In addition, they also pay significantly less for him compared to Kuemper (even with $1.5M in retained salary).

Coyotes already have Adin Hill they dont need Andersen and Kuemper is on the block to get the Coyotes some big time assets not move him for a lesser goalie that would leave in 1 year
