I've heard reports of that kind of deal for Edmundson. How good is he, Blues fans?

Pretty sure the Kings won't jump at that deal, even if Alzner weren't part of it.

I think Mete would likely fetch you more than a lousy 3rd pick, which has about a 25% chance of ever becoming a solid NHLer (200+ games). Mete is 22 and already has 171 NHL games to his name. Habs might suddenly have an abundance of LD, but trade him for a burly 3rd or 4th line winger who can fill a need.

Depends what kind of fan you are. If you're an advanced-stats aficionado, you won't love him. He kind of sucks by the numbers, actually. But if you think there's more to hockey than just numbers -- intimidation (protecting teammates), chemistry, durability, -- he starts to look a lot better.

I don't think it's worth it to trade Mete for a third or fourth liner, we already have enough of that and I'm comfortable with byron and lekhonen on the fourth, I'd rather trade Mete for a 4th round pîck if I have to. It's not really worth it but the goal is to clear a bit of cap space, on top of that we have so many LD that do the same things he does.

Habs are seriously weak at the 3-4 winger spots. Lehkonen is awesome and Byron is pretty great for the 50 games he's able to play. Weal is very mediocre. Habs traded away Thompson and Cousins and will let Wiese walk. Assume KK or Danault is the #3C and Evans comes in at 4C. That leaves 2 wingers and 2 more "spares" for the 23-man roster. Who's in Poehling? Belzile? Habs DESPERATELY NEED another Armia or two.

Danault will want to play with gally and tatar next year, he said he didn't like his role during the playoffs that's why I didn't touch that line. Now it brings us to KK on the 3rd, with what he brought us in the playoffs, I think it's time to give KK some good wingers. I don't want KK to play with defensive minded players like Byron and lekhonen, I like them a lot but I don't think that's what's best for him. Plus, with our trio of center, I think it's a great opportunity to exploit a strategy with 3 pretty good lines offensive oriented and not 2 good lines plus kk playing a defensive style. Although, the only risk would be that our depth is not looking pretty good on the third and fourth line

Agreed, which makes trading Mete for what is essentially nothing makes no sense to me. I do like the top 3 lines you have (I could live without Drouin) but Belzile is not an every-day NHLer and Poehling and Ylonen need more time to marinade in the minors. That's why I think you'd be better off trading Mete for a bonafide middle-6 forward who add to the depth and, who knows, maybe makes it possible to trade Drouin or Tatar midseason for a good prospect or pick. Habs have cap space, so let's use it.
