Cheap because GMJR has apparently been told to shed cap, and Letang is rumoured to be getting shopped all over. (Source: a tweet from a SN insider that I can no longer seem to find so may be fake but oh well)

Détails additionnels:
The seemingly one-sided-ness of the deal is because this trade would happen after signing bonuses are set to be paid. Andersen would carry a cap hit of $5 mil, while having an actual salary of only $1 mil. Kuemper however has a cap hit of $4.5 mil and an actual salary of $5.5 mil. Arizona is hurting financially and will absolutely need to make “real money” moves to help themselves financially. Toronto would end up paying $9.5 mil in reality for a $4.5 mil cap hit goalie, which is why the trade is nearly a one for one deal. The pick was added for compensation for taking the brunt of “real money” expenditure.

pretty possible. i think this is not bad at all and fair.

probably could get a bit more for andreas.. like 1x 2nd round or 2x 3rds. but helps both teams. mango is a middle 6 winger.

wayne simmonds probably worth closer to 1million.
joe thorton maybe similar as well.

mikheyev will probably get a bit more.

dermott would get alot more i think. closer to 2million on a bridge. maybe even 2.5

swap muzzin and rilley positions too maybe.

cool stuff

That pens trade is hardly fair for the pens lol. A top 2 elite RHD with retention for a bottom 6 player, a late 2nd, and late 4th. Pens counter with Morgan Reilly for Jack Johnson, a 2nd and a 4th

I explained my logic in the additional comments. I’ve heard some talk (from podcasts, TV, articles) that GMJR is exploring moving Letang, and he’s been instructed that he is to operate with an internal cap of $70-72 mil. I know it’s way off the board, but just thought it could be a possibility. He did just literally give away Bjugstad.

In a regular season, someone gives Simmonds 3x3 (not saying it would be a good choice). Figured Leafs could get him for just under $2 mil for one year, and figuring Thornton also gets offers of $1.5 mil. Hoping he decides to come to the Leafs for a shot.

Dermott, in this example accepts his qualifying offer with the understanding that he desperately needs to take a step or be passed by Sandin on the depth chart.

Figuring a fair price for Souperman is either just shy of $1.5 mil for 1 year or right around $2 mil for 2.

Also, didn’t realize Reilly and Muzzin were flopped there. I meant to have them opposite.

That internal cap crap has been debunked a million times. Ownership has instructed GMJR to put a contender together whatever the cost. He literally gave Bjugstad away so that he can gain cap room to sign a 3C, McCann, Simon, Jarry, and possibly a 3RD. If the internal cap thing was true, they’d have used their first to get rid of guys like Hornqvist or Johnson, rather than go after Kapanen.
And if he is shopping letang, it is to get an actual return. Not scrubs and late draft picks.
jorTurtle a aimé ceci.
