You're right, Matheson wouldn't be a bad 5-6 option for anyone. Looked awful in the playoffs, but his defensive metrics aren't bad. Hovered around 1 xWAR the last three seasons, which is actually pretty solid. It's just that that contract is really bad and made no sense. I do think this could work if Boston likes the player and decides they can afford it (personally I think there are probably better ways of spending almost $5 million)
