leaving enough cap / roster space to fill in the rest of the roster because obviously not all their dead weight contracts will be moved

Boychuk: probably an NHL ready prospect like bellows and either a draft pick or another mid prospect maybe?

Ladd: probably NHL ready prospect like wilde or bellows + a first + mid tier prospect

Leddy: i could see the isles probably getting a 2nd rounder for him

Hickey: might net the isles a late round pick since the salary is low

Komarov: honestly I have no idea but they probably keep him

Cizikas and Clutterbuck are too vital to the team so they arent going anywhere

Leddy and cizikas both have value

Leddy for a 5th or 6th rd pick

Cizikas for 2 3rd rd picks.

      Clutterbuck is a buyout candidate

The only moves they have to make :

      Trade Leddy
      Buyout clutterbuck

      Trade one of komarov/hickey

It wont be impossible. The bright side for the islanders is that a lot of these guys arnt completely dead weight and dont have massive term left on their deals. WIth a bit of retention you can find homes for most of these guys without paying a lot.

Take a guy like Leo for example. At 3 mil hes a no go but at 1.5 mil aav, hes an effective 4th liner who can put in work on the PK. Thats pretty cost effective.

Assuming Dobson, Wahlstrom, Sorokin and young NHLers (I really like Beauvillier...) are off the table, Ottawa would be interested in some combination of Wilde, Bellows, Holmstrom and picks for 1-2 of the contracts with a term of 2 or less years.

Maybe Boychuck+Komarov+1st+Wilde+Bellows for Hawryluk? I think you have to eat Ladd tbh, it would probably take the above package to move him alone, at least this way you clear out 9mil instead of 5.5, and just bury Ladd for another mil saved. With Greene, Greiss, Martin, and Brassard coming off the books that’s probably close to enough to keep your RFAs and fill out the roster with younger guys (Koivula and Dobson should be ready next year right?) and cheap depth signings (get Rinaldo on league min to be Martin Jr. lol)

Assuming the isles trade Leddy for a pick and buyout clutterbuck, they would only need to trade one of komarov/Hickey. Would Ottawa do bellows , komarov and a 2021 3rd for a 7th?

The isles can’t trade more than one of 1st/bellows/wilde

Dobson, wahlstrom, and sorokin will make the opening roster, koivula probably not. He’s close, but not ready.

Yeah Sens would do that. You'll probably still have to dump Boychuck at some point though, you're gonna have the same problem next year when Sorokin/Beauvillier/Pelech need extending, and Cizikas is the only UFA coming off the books.

For sure, but boychuk will cost less to move when he is only owed 1.25 mill for 1 season.

They’ll also have to trade varlamov next summer. He was an above avg goalie this season, I think he can return a mid rd pick.

If it were up to me, I’d trade Leddy and sell high on bailey this offseason. Trade komarov + bellows.

Next offseason trade varlamov and buyout clutterbuck. Move boychuk (Seattle?) . I’ve done a few ACGM and the money works out.
