Jim has said he is not in the trading picks to shed salary discussions. He thinks this team needs two good goalies. He wants to trade 'some younger players for picks'. Wants to resign Markstrom. Thought Toffoli was 'a good fit'. Thinks Tanev is a calming influence on Hughes.

Detroit trade is straight forward enough, Demko to unload Eriksson for a solid backup in Bernier. Id say Demkos stock has gone up with that performance.

Montreal uses one of their three 2nd round picks to add Jake to their top 9. Canadiens needs some more size in their lineup IMO. Jakes speed also fits their fast style of play well.

San Jose needs another RH Dman, Stecher could be a good fit here for a late 2nd round pick. That pick may take years to develop and the Sharks are in win now mode with their current contract structure. That pick is probably better served to improve them now.

Ottawa adds a roster player and Lind the former 2nd round pick to their system for the cost of a late pick. Canucks shed salary and Ottawa improves more long term. Lind is coming into his own and could push for a NHL roster spot in their lineup. Sven is a solid stop gap addition for them to push their young prospects.


Theres no official word on Ferland but Ive heard hes hoping to be ready for next season. Guy is one concussion away from perminant brain damage, if he doesnt have it already.. Id rather resign Leivo and give him a chance to bounce back from his knee injury.

Call up options become: Bailey, Graovac, Gadjovich and Rathbone, Chatfield, Brisebois. Domingue or Dipietro in net.
