I’m a Jets fan but on behalf of my fellow jets fans, they act like Laine is the next McDavid lol. If you watch him he is a top 5 shooter in the league and is pretty decent at zone exits and entries. I would way rather keep Ehlers who will likely make 3-4 million less then Laine and is more impactful already

We can built a trade for Laine, but Suzuki Romanov Kotkaniemi Caufield stays out of it. All the other players/picks are available ( not Weber Petry Gallagher Price of course )

Yeah exactly, I mean yes I like the guys on my team of course but I find jets fans in general overate the he** out of them, Kyle Connor being the prime example.

I don’t think they are being overrated, when you look at their contract Ehlers/Connor/Scheifele/Morrissey, they are guys you aren’t trading for fair value but by overpayment. There is no reason to trade them. In Laine case, he’ll ask for a huge raise, doesn’t play a 200 ft game, so he could become expendable to solidify the 2C. Laine value is huge because he CAN score goals, and there’s not a lot like him who can do that.

Ok maybe I’m exaggerating. In my opinion though he is just not someone you should sign for 10 million dollars a season. We could get so much in a trade for him where it would be hard to pass up. That’s just the way I see it though.

The whole reason Habs Fans obsess about Laine (myself included) is he is just what we need. Given our assets I have to believe there could be a trade there.

And it's not Domi for Laine, that is straight up unfair, a 1st round pick, a B+ prospect goalie, and a puck moving defenseman under contract cheap and Domi who will likely save the jets the additional 3-4M Laine will ask above his contract.

Laine isn't worth 3 first round picks, he's a goal scorer who lacks defensive responsibility and is lazy at times. What do you think his worth is?

I'd rather ship Allen, and sign Anderson for half the contract value as a backup for 1-2 seasons. I still think Bergevin is going to flip Allen (like Scandella) and move his 3rd he gave up into a 2nd or a late 1st if salary retained.

Laine after next season will want the $8-9M contract, and the Jets realistically have $16M in cap room to sign more than half their roster.
Domi has shown he can play a 2C if need be, I originally considered including Danault and another pick, but I think Danault is overvalued.

Laine is still worth A LOT, but I’m not giving Caufield Suzuki Kotkaniemi Romanov Norlinder for him. If we have something else interesting for them, alright you can send offers. But the 5 guys above are untouchable

I never included those guys, Caufield I would consider, because he hasn't shown if he can play in the NHL yet.
Still an unknown.

Romanov has played with men, and performed, so, he's untouchable (can;t have another Sergachev f-up)

Caufield potentiel is too big to trade him, he literally can score from everywhere with is lethal shot

I agree, and so can Laine.

Difference being, Laine is a proven commodity, whereas Caufield isn't.

It's all a matter of what teams want, and external factors (foreign exchange, arena size, TV contracts, etc.)

I think Winnipeg would be fine with Ehlers, Connor, Wheeler and Domi on their wings for the foreseeable future.
And having a price-controlled possibility of Caufield.

Montreal would benefit now with Laine, and have the cap and actual real world salary possibility to retain Laine.
