read it. It's a hypothetical. IF Habs are on a major upswing (it would be top 10 protected at least), IF Johnsson rebounds and improved to what was mentioned above, not totally unreasonable given the Kapanen return

I don’t think either of them read the trade notes or the year on the agm. This place used to be good. It’s now nothing better than twitter.

I think a 20 goal 50 point 25 year old winger on 3.4M is worth a first round pick in a weak draft, given the recent trade precedent set (yes Leafs ripped PIT off, but this return isn't nearly as good). If not he could be moved for a 2nd rounder or something, but I don't think it's that unreasonable if he has a strong bounce back season and improves.

Byron is 31 and has never had as productive of a season as Johnsson's last healthy season, his rookie season, 2018-19. In fact despite how much worse Johnson was in this injury riddled year, he would have been on pace for 40 points in 82 games, just 3 points shy of Byron's career high. Johnsson is 25. You might not understand the concepts of trade precedent, hypotheticals, production, age, and draft class strength, but they are all factors in this **hypothetical, but realistic** scenario, in which this might make sense for both teams. The trade might not be perfect, maybe the Leafs have to throw a minor piece in the deal, but IN THIS HYPOTHETICAL SITUATION, it is somewhat accurate. Big difference between Byron and Johnsson.

Yes it is hypothetical I understand . I just don’t see it . I Just don’t think Johnsson will ever be worth a 1st even if he scores 50 ppt . Moreover our 1st , which will probably be high next year (10th-15th oa)

the hypothetical literally states that the pick is a playoff pick (meaning 16 or higher). I think 50+ point forwards can go for a first, especially in a not-so deep draft
