Yeah Rangers fans will probably hate that trade, but we just had a weird trade yesterday so settle.

Enough cap space left to give Fleury and Foegele new contracts

I don't think the Rangers would be willing to move Lundkvist. Having him come in on a new ELC will be crucial for them in 21-22 onwards when there will be a lot of players in need of new contacts

Rangers fans generally agree that Nils is pretty much untouchable right now; that changes if DeAngelo is signed long term, but for now, Nils is basically our successor for that spot in the lineup, and having his ELC will be really helpful for the Rangers. I don't know that much about Honka as a prospect but just based on his age I would assume he's probably 2ish years away from the NHL in a best case scenario, and that doesn't really fit the Rangers' timeline. They're not really doing the whole "full rebuild, sell everything" thing anymore. Yeah we traded you Skjei for a 1st, but that was largely motivated by the fact Skjei had a NTC of some kind kicking in and we wanted to get rid of him before it did, similarly to Stepan back in 2017. I think the Rangers would be a bit more interested in some things that are a little more current, that are maybe a year if that from graduating to the NHL. I don't think they'd want to trade their futures for more futures, I think if they're going to sell futures, they'd rather be turning them into something different, probably current assets.

It's not a horrible idea, I think Georgiev to Carolina makes a lot of sense and I think Nils is a good prospect for you to think about if you're not really a fan of Joey Keane, but I'm not sure the return would be something that intrigues the Rangers.

Yeah I feel you are pretty spot on with this.

Hypothetically if this trade actually went through, Rangers would use the 2 of their 3 1sts to move up into the top 10. a 1st overall and a 10th overall would be sick in this draft!

That being said youre probably right with Nils being untouchable.

OOOF that's a NO

Honka is a very nice prospect to have but I wouldn't move a guy who has put up Dahlin/EK like numbers in SWE along with a proven NHL level goalie for such a package

^ This..

Can't really put it any better.

If anything, DeAngelo is a more realistic target, he's gotta move for Nils anyway...that we can discuss. Just not for Honka, don't have any real need for a smallish RD with mediocre upside. How about a better C prospect, got any of those?

DeAngelo
Georgiev

for

Ryan Suzuki
Toronto's 1st

With Aho, Trocheck, Staal and Necas all on the current roster, you have less need at C than say the Rangers...who have no need at RD.
In return, you get a 60+ point 25 year old RD entering his prime and under RFA control for the next 3 seasons, and Georgiev.

Reason why Deangelo wouldnt work is because we cant afford. DeAngelo would be paid 5+ mil to play on the 3rd pairing. Also we would then have to leave him unprotected in the expansion draft.

With Nils in the trade (although not realistic) it allows us to have him in the lineup on a Entry contract!
