You drastically loose that Arizona trade. Demers is a 1 year rental 3rd pair guy. Garland is cheap now but is a wash with Mangiapane

Also, I will add that I really love the idea of trading for Garland if the price is right.

But the deal above is terrible, and my read on the exit interview comments is that Gaudreau is moving on, but that Treliving hasn't decided whether to shop Monahan yet.

I really, really like Mangiapane (and don't want him traded) but with Garland being a right-handed RW, he may better fit this team's holes, especially if we end up signing another left-handed guy in Hall. The other thing is that Mangiapane didn't have a great negotiation last year and may command more money than any of us realize this offseason. In a year with a flat cap, he may be the cap casualty.

That's definitely tempting, but I'm not sure I trust Monahan as being the right guy to play with Gaudreau. I'd like to see what Bennett can do there.
