Fleury would just retire if this happened

This could work. It’s obvious that both Gustavsson and Søgaard need time to develop, so Fleury as a bona fide short term bridge guy seems ok. Besides, sens are one of the only teams who can comfortably take his cap.
For VGK, it’s essentially a cap dump. Fleury doesn’t have much term left and is hella expensive, so dumping him on a team in need of a starter makes a lot of sense. Daccord helps their bare goalie prospect pool, and the third evens out the value.
Just hypothetically, does anyone see CGY taking a swing at Fleury? They’re always mentioned in goalie trade rumours.

Yes, I see Calgary taking a swing but I haven't looked at them yet from the Fleury aspect. Sabres, Ottawa and Oilers yes but Flames not yet. Flames would have to give up pieces to complete a deal as they only have $1M cap space so cannot eat $7M so looking at three players or so needing to be moved.

VGK has to pay OTT to take Fleury
But I dont think Fleury OKs the trade to OTT even with the promise he would be traded at the deadline to a contender
