Saw on flyers end wanting to see what Canucks fans think
Heck no!!! Why would Vancouver trade OEL when he has 4yrs remaining for a similar bad contract for Couturier; which is longer terms remaining. Overall, I also think Vancouver is actually happy with their current roster at least at the forward side of the puck. While they will look to upgrade on defense they are a bit locked with Myers & OEL so they would like to trade these contracts away; they clearly don`t want bad contracts back.
Myers has been linked to Ottawa & Pittsburgh in the past season but not sure of the interest now. Myers also has a buy-out proof contract due to his 5M bonus and only 1M in actually salary so very unlikely to be bought out.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mv21227</b></div><div>This is awful for the Canucks</div></div>
The trade doesn`t make sense for all parties involved since Dumba is likely trade straight up for picks & maybe a prospect but also very little talk of him being traded at the moment. If traded Toronto seems willing to package a few picks with prospects but that is straight speculation and other moves by Toronto suggest this ship might have sailed.
Pittsburgh doesn`t have the cap space unless something in and something out and while I agree that Vancouver would target those two defender as possible returns I think they would likely want prospects and picks back for either Miller or Boeser; my guess would be Alexander Nylander; close to a point per game in the AHL the last two season and seems to be coming into his own. Hållander, Filip or Poulin, Samuel and 1st or 2nd round pick. But Salary cap is the real concern so something would have to come off the roster so the deal likely has either Zucker, Jason or Blueger, Teddy involved. More I look at it; it should be Zucker & a Pick(s) for Boeser or Miller.
Dumba will cost a team 1st, 3rd and prospect is my guess!!

Demkos gotta go
Not a bad trade until you think about how does this make Vancouver better?
Luukkonen, Ukko-Pekka seems to be a bust of Goaltending prospect when Comrie, Eric & Anderson, Craig are playing a head of him. Trading a starting goalie that has struggled with injuries this season in Demko for a Career AHL goalies makes no sense.

Simple put a bad trade that favors Vancouver to greatly and doesn`t make sense from Toronto aspect.
I wonder do people even understand how trades actually work? Both teams need or require something that they are lacking so trade the pieces.

Demko for rhd
You know it is a bad trade when you start with WHO? as your first comment.
So you are trading a Starting goalie that is struggle with injury for a Defensive prospect 1 vs 1?
Not to mention the fact that NJD goalies are equally just as good if not better this season at a much cheap price. Also still have a prospect in Daws waiting to play games again at the NHL level.
Now if the trade was Demko for Daws and picks then maybe but again that doesn`t help NJD here.

Complete over payment by Montreal so won`t happen. Monahan & the 1st would still be a over payment for Dubois so you didn`t need to add the other pick & Prospects to the mix.

What it would take for Myers to Leafs
I simply don`t understand the logic of this trade as it feels like a shoe horn fit.
Looking at from both sides:
What does Toronto need? Goalie & Maybe a upgraded on Defence.
So you trade for Bo Horvat (F) & Tyler Myers (D)?
While only giving up Alex Keerfoot (F) & Justin Holl (D) while throwing in a 3rd to have Vancouver retain $3M of Myers contract to make this work.
Vancouver:
How does trading Bo Harvat for Alex Keerfoot make your team better?
How does Trading a slow Tyler Myers for Justin Holl make your team better? Answer to this one is salary dump and slightly young player that you have no intentions of resigning at the end of the year. Which you hope to flip for more picks at the deadline. But I am not retaining if that is the situation.
Okay, More I think about the Myers for Holl aspect of the trade works if Vancouver receives 3rd round pick and retains a lot less then 50% of Myers contract. But this doesn`t really work from a Toronto aspect then does it.

GMJB Take Notes
You have $5m in scratches so why wouldn't you trade those players or get more cap relief by dumping the contracts in the minors.
Plus that would have been more then enough to retain a high scoring forward that you traded away in Boeser, Brock for Greenway, Jordan; which is complete not the smartest trade I have seen.
If you wanted Dumba then the other two and pick would have been enough to complete the trade. Plus I don't think the Wild trade you Greenway anyways.
Eriksson retained at $3M is based on his agent but a player that is making $4M per season for the remained of his contract and $1.075M in simple dumping his contract in the minors means this player isn't going to be traded with $3M retained as it provided no actually money saving for the Canucks, provides Cap relief but no actually money savings so unlikely to happen; not to mention you need a team willing to take a bad contract off your hands with understanding that a buy-out happens next season at $4M remaining to that team to gain $6M in Cap space so max retained should be around $2M or less otherwise from a money aspect you are better off keeping Eriksson to buy him out next season. Teams that might take Eriksson contract are Detroit, Montreal and maybe Ottawa (unlikely) Remember the team needs to be able to pay out the remaining $4M for the teams overall profits; which is why Ottawa doesn't really fit so not just about finding Cap space on another team but are they willing or have the pockets to pay lump sums of money without having a players services.
Podkolzin, Vasily is also under contract in the KHL and cannot be signed until the end of 2021 due to agreements between the two leagues otherwise Vancouver would be required to buy out his KHL contract plus provide compensation to his current team. Not to mention he doesn't look ready to play in the NHL during the next season and needs more time to develop.
Carlo, Brandon trade simple won't happen Virtanen, Jake will walk this season as an UFA as he doesn't fit the Canucks long term plan any longer.
Otherwise you seem to be close but also missing added strength to the Defensive core of the team via a major trade or UFA signing.

Gaudreau to the Caps - what makes this trade more even
Key to why this wouldn't happen and being missed by most is: <strong>Vanecek, Vitek</strong> Very strong goaltender prospect for Washington when they look all but set to let Holtby walk as UFA this fall. Washington only has five goalies in the system at the moment so will not be looking to trade one away. They signed Fucale, Zachary just a few days ago; again as sign they are letting Holby walk?
Not to mention Washington needs defense so trading away Orlov, Dmitry doesn't make sense.

Fleury Flames
100% Agreed; which is why I think Flames are targeting Holtby in UFA this Summer (fall) as Washington looks set to move on from him with some of their recent signings adding Fucale, Zachary just a few days ago. Holtby being from Alberta seems destine to either end up with the Flames or the Oilers. Fleury if trade with either end up with Ottawa or Buffalo in my opinion.

I also expect the Oilers to take a run at Holtby during the off season as Washington looks set to move on from him handing the reins to Samsonov, Ilya with newly signed Fucale, Zachary; Copley, Pheonix and Vanecek, Vitek all looking set to fight for the back up role with Copley, Pheonix the front runner.

Hutton was thrown into the trade to make the cap work for the deal. Funny aspect is thinking that the tandem of Hutton & Lehner wasn't good enough for the Sabres but Vegas would end up with that in this trade. LOL!!

The Golden fix
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HabsFan9</b></div><div>This could work. It’s obvious that both Gustavsson and Søgaard need time to develop, so Fleury as a bona fide short term bridge guy seems ok. Besides, sens are one of the only teams who can comfortably take his cap.
For VGK, it’s essentially a cap dump. Fleury doesn’t have much term left and is hella expensive, so dumping him on a team in need of a starter makes a lot of sense. Daccord helps their bare goalie prospect pool, and the third evens out the value.
Just hypothetically, does anyone see CGY taking a swing at Fleury? They’re always mentioned in goalie trade rumours.</div></div>
Yes, I see Calgary taking a swing but I haven't looked at them yet from the Fleury aspect. Sabres, Ottawa and Oilers yes but Flames not yet. Flames would have to give up pieces to complete a deal as they only have $1M cap space so cannot eat $7M so looking at three players or so needing to be moved.

Trouble in Golden land
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AnyoneButTheBruins</b></div><div>Ya I get that I was just saying Fleury didn't post it, but I think it'd be smart for Vegas to stay with Lehner and trade Fleury in the offseason and help their line-up even more. They don't need two goalies that skilled. That being said IDK if this is the assets they would want back. They need a 3C (no AA is not a C) watched him enough as a Red Wing he's a better winger. Also, if they traded away Fleury it'd be a clear sign they'd want to stick with Lehner so no need for Koskinen. A top 4 LD could help them as well I think. Bare this in mind I'm a Red Wings fan and haven't watched many Vegas games so this is just going off player knowledge and stats so my team needs for Vegas could be way off base!</div></div>
I agree that Vega doesn't need or want that contract Koskinen brings in the trade.
Again, If I was GM of Vegas I don't want salary retained unless I am getting a player that files a role within my current team; So I would consider: Larsson, Adam; Klefbom, Oscar or Nurse, Darnell but would you trade anyone of these defense for Fleury? Fleury is done in another two to three years so would be short term fix to your goaltender issues in Edmonton.
If you convinced me to take a forward then I would only consider Nugent-Hopkins, Ryan and that isn't a good trade for my team as Nugent-Hopkins, Ryan would be third line center at $6M but with a single year left on contract makes the most sense for Oilers to move if they don't see him in their long term plans; which I think they do since Oilers actually lack a lot of forward depth when looking at their roster.
What I would really want in the trade if I was Vegas GM would be: Fleury for Rodrigue, Olivier or picks as high as you are willing to offer so 3rd or 4th as I am after the $7M in cap relief in this situation.
I was also trying to think of all the teams I can think of that need goaltender help next season: Oilers, Flames, Ottawa, Sabres, Blackhawks? and Canucks?. I could see both Ottawa & Sabres making strong pushes for Fleury.

Pls read comment
The details are wrong as this trade would make more sense 1-1 with Marner for Ekman-Larsson with secondaries being later round picks or prospects. But If I am GM of the Coyotes then I would be looking for Defensive prospect to come back my way to fill the void of Ekman-Larsson being traded away. So Sandin, Rasmus or Liljegren, Timothy for my first rounder to be included in the trade. But I am still lacking secondary scoring even with Marner being added so I would also like Nylander, William or Kapanen, Kasperi added to the deal and you can eat the rest of Stepan, Derek contract so I will also kick in 2nd or 3rd (maybe even conditionally)
So Toronto gives Marner, Sandin & Kapanen for Ekman-Larsson, Stepan, 2021 1st and 2022 3rd (conditionally 2021 2nd - Play-off conditions?)

Devils trade for Dunn
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HabsFan9</b></div><div>The Blues will literally get more if a team offersheets him. Try again</div></div>
Actually it depends what they offer him for a contract that determine what they would get back. Dunn is the seventh man in St Louis so one would assume that they would be looking for a bridge deal here for the young defender. So somewhere in $1M to $2M range so compensation would only be a third round pick for the player. Then considering that Dunn is/was a second round pick this means he has improved his stock/worth to become a first round pick? He was also a late second round pick.
If this deal was offered to me as the General manager of St Louis I would heavily consider this offer; actually I think the deal is a bit much for Dunn. I would accept a 2nd & 3rd; which sadly the devils don't have. Would I take consider pushing the year(s)? Nope, I don't think so not in this draft class so Yeah a first seems fair but I still would like a third as well. We have the depth in St Louis with Walman, Jake & Pouliot, Derrick in the minors. Not to mention Andersson, Anton developing nicely in Sweden.

Way to heavy in the Flames favor with $19M coming off the books. When I look at trades or possible trades I consider does it make both teams better or does it clear salary as required by one or both team aka does it make sense for both teams.
You have Buffalo giving up three top end prospects and two highly rated draft picks for Two really good players, an average (Not sure what he is) player and goalie that hasn't proven he can be a starter in the league.
