As a non-Edmonton fan, I'm assuming Nylander would have to be apart of it but there'd be a bigger package coming back obviously

Everyone these declines.

Johnsson can probably be had for nothing.
I don't see DAL doing that at all.

He’s not being traded. I don’t know where you heard about Bouchard’s development, but no one could/should be unhappy with it.

A lot of the talk about the Oilers depth on defence is misguided too. They’re deep at LD not RD (which IMO are positions dependent on whether a player is left or right handed) As good as Bouchard is, he can’t be expected to be ready next season.

Where did you hear that the Oilers are not happy with Bouchard’s development? From the year end report I read they said he took a huge leap in his development and is ranked their number 1 prospect.

Dallas trade is a little shaky, but actual realistic trades, maybe just a touch to finish.

Murray for Kapanen is close
Andersen, Dormott for 2nd, 2nd, 4th is close

we both know TOR is in a cap squeeze, they will move Johnsson, who is a bottom 6 winger, for basically nothing.
Much like the penguins would move Bjugstad for basically nothing. Because they want to clear cap.

You can pretend otherwise, but if they find a taker for him, they aren't expecting any kind of significant return.
That's what happens when you have 4.5 million cap space, with 9 forwards and 6 defense men, with half of them being AHL level.
You can argue it all day, but they are dumping cap and no one is really going to be running out to claim it, as most teams don't have a ton of cap, and those that do are going to want something good for it. Not small bottom 6 wingers

I would move Kapanen first. Personally I would rather keep everyone.

Johnsson is good and you just like to troll.

no one is trolling.

stop pretending TOR isn't making a cap dump move. The only difference is teams like TB are going to offer better players on cheap as well, as there are like half a dozen teams looking to shed cap.
Johnsson is a 3rd line guy, with no grit. Coming off injury.
How much is anyone really going to give up to take that 3+ million salary as compared to what they can get elsewhere either trade or FA.
Many teams have the same problem. And while tea,s won't pay to move guys, they won't be expecting much back.

Johnsson is not a cap dump. The leafs cap situation is easily manageable. The issue is whether or not they will make a move for an rhd in trade or ufa. Then some cap will need to be moved.

That doesn’t mean Johnsson will go for future considerations. He will go for market value... just not sure what market value will look like.

easily manageable. 4.5 million in cap next year...you can't even pay your RFA without making a move. Let alone field a decent defense.
As much as you want to claim he's worth a 2nd. You'l be lucky to get a 3rd. No one is rushing out to trade for him. You are going to have to actively pursue dumping him.
And while he'll probably be easier to dump than a guy like Bjugstad, although possibly not because the contract is 3 more years, and he doesn't have a high chance to sit on LTIR not costing the owner anything because it's covered in insurance. The reality is you can bet no one is out there looking to pick that up.

I’m fine with a 3rd. 4.6m to sign Dermott (who may sign his QO) and Mikheyev which I assume will be a one year deal. Then we re sign spezza fill out the one remaining 4th line spot. We have 4.6m to fill 3 active roster spots and one healthy scratch. Spezza and Marincin = 1.45m. Then the two Rfa’s.

I know putting Toronto into a desperate scenario suited your narrative better but it just isn’t true. I doubt we stay with the roster as is. I’m sure there will be plenty of moves this offseason.

The sky isn’t falling down in leaf land. Sorry.

as I said, you have to make moves to make it work. Clearly even you realize this. None of that means the sky is falling. It's just reality.
4.5 million to sign 4 forwards and 1 defense man. 13+7.

I guess everyone is taking minimum wage.
Not to mention it puts the team in a real bad spot if there are any injury call ups and no one is on LTIR.

Which is why teams leave cap over.

Just be honest about the situation. Like many teams they need to move cap. As I said, teams might not pay for guys who may still have some value, but they sure as hell aren't getting any kind of real return.
That's not just TOR, that's every team.
How hard is that to understand. I mean really, you think TB is going to get a fair return?
There are several teams looking to clear space. None should expect anything great if they can move a guy.

Lol.... Toronto never “leaves cap over” that’s why we hired pridham.

The fact that you are trying to compare Tampa’s cap situation to the leafs shows how laughable your argument is.

Why do we need to sign 4 forwards? We only have Mikheyev and spezza to sign our top 9 is already under contract as well as our 4c. The only Dman not under contract is Dermott.

Barbanov makes 925k spezza will get 750k Marincin makes 700 k (healthy scratch) dermott’s QO is just under 875k.

That leaves Mikheyev roughly 1.8m.

Dermott and Mikheyev May look for more. but leafs have 1 NMC contract. They can move a player from any position.

It will be an interesting off season I’m sure. Personally I wouldn’t mind seeing a couple of forwards moved for modest returns to go after a partner for Rielly. But I also think Dermott has been held back way too much on this team and is ready for a bigger role.

why do you need to sign 4 forwards? Because you have 9 on the active roster counting against the cap!

come on man, at least look at the cap before answer with this mess.
https://www.capfriendly.com/teams/mapleleafs
9,6,2... 4.5 under.

you have to add 4 forwards to that. 3+1 and 1 defense man.
I'm not even going to sit here arguing this with you. It's common sense if you can't figure out that they are cap strapped that's on you.
Many teams are in no different situation and everyone is trying to dump cap.
Get over it.

And yet again... why do leafs need to sign 4 forwards? Legal roster is 20 players. Leafs will most likely go with a 21 man roster and move marlies up and down as they always have.

The problem is that you do not understand the CBA or how the cap is accumulated. It is accumulated daily... not yearly.

there you telling people who you think they know or don't know.

Everyone also knows that teams don't go with 12 forwards for a reason. but hey, good luck with that.

I think the plan last year if Johnsson wasn’t hurt was to play a game short so that they could bring up players making 925k or less that wouldn’t count against the cap.

Not that it makes much difference as I am pretty sure there are going to be moves made. Could the leafs and Pridham pull it off? Yes they could.
